The world was simple,
our reach was simpler
and life was simplest…
all in a relative sense.
We miss them, don’t we?
Stories that began
with “long long ago”,
pranks that ended
with plucking a mango.
Walking the aisles
at local video store,
no wiki or google
to give a review score.
A happy home with
a solo TV screen,
in front of which
the family would be seen.
A peppy some in
vibrant shades of Benetton,
just chilling or on a walk
pressing the Walkman button.
Memories clicked with
a film roll of Kodak,
Pen-pals made not
just out of pure luck.
Print books thrived
to make us well read,
when boredom struck
pages flipped for book cricket.
Folks hung-out at
street corners with no stress,
heads held high in joy
and not buried in digital abyss.
Teens matched out
FLAMES in class period break,
was the endeavor a hit
with boys and girls alike?
A car was just
a machine with wheels,
needing no computer or
memory to drive us on streets.
A phone was just
a gadget for us to talk,
and there was life
outside that was a bedrock.
We have revamped,
our creations have evolved.
We have spawned
noise more than a little,
striving to make life
align to a new simple.
The world is the very same,
our reach maybe ample.
Can life scale back
to the old simple?
